Location : Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong
Maison Kayser’s latest store is located in a newly built commercial building at the heart of Wong Chuk Hang district. The design revolves around warm and natural materials, recalling elements from residential interiors and terraces of Paris.
Retaining the essence of Eric Kayser’s core values was essential to the project : we chose porcelain tiles from the French company Winckelmann and placed materiality and craftsmanship at the core of the design process.
Featuring a black and white herringbone floor tile, the store gathers French-flair, authenticity and nostalgia, while giving tribute to the streets of Hong Kong and their traditional brick pavements. Walls are finished in a creamy-coloured Venetian Plaster. The palette stays minimal but warm and textured, while oversized pendant lights emphasize the intention of an understated, yet layered and cozy interior.
Elegant white rice paper lanterns with black stained oak accents give rhythm and playfulness to the facade. The Formakami pendants by Jaime Hayon invite passerby with their geometric shape, expressing Asia’s finest art in a contemporary style . Other design details throughout the shop also recall the “East meets West” intent from the designer, such as the cane dining chairs and rattan armchairs paired with classic Carrara marble tables. The window seating area is designed as a sun lounge, where lush planters and vine blur indoors and outdoor boundaries.
